On quitting



When things go wrong as they sometimes will
When the road you're trudging seems all up hill
When the funds are low and the debts are high
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh
When life is getting you down a bit
Rest if you must, but never quit

Life is strange with its twists and turns
As some of us often learn
And maybe a failure would turn about
If we have the courage to stick it out
Never give up though the pace is slow
You may succeed with another go

Success is failure, turned inside out
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt
And you never can tell how close you are
It may be near when it seems so far
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit
It's when things seem at their worst
That you must never quit

An #Expat Easter

Easter Sunday started like any other day.  I watched the sun rise as it peeped over the mountains of the San Fernando valley and greeted the new day, a ritual I’ve developed since being in Los Angeles and one that I’m grateful for.  Having lived in houses previously where one had to get in the car and go for a drive to see the sun rise, I was delighted to find that I could now watch it from the comfort of my own home.  Of course there are days when the fog rolls over the mountains, obscuring the view and there are others where there is a general haze that does the same, but for the most part I do get to start each day by greeting the sun and watching the brilliant golden orb rise into the sky.  The difference today and the last few days, was that I knew it was the Easter weekend.
